Mont Saint-Michel

Now I had mentioned Mont Saint-Michel before but I was slightly wrong on the cost. Now it was €13 both ways on the bus (26 total) and then according to their website, it is €8,50 per person. That makes €34,50. Now you might notice that I am beginning to use the Euro symbol (€) and also putting a comma instead of a decimal for the change for the Euro, might as well get used to the way they do it!

Anyway, this is a really amazing place to go. Although it is somewhat of a tourist attraction with a thousand or more people visiting daily, it is worth the trip. From a distance it looks much like a castle and very warlike and intimidating. It is actually an abbey from some 1.300 years back. It was used for war at times because of its' unique military advantages. It is on a hill for one, and it is an island during high tide. This is the closest I really got to going to any French beaches but I wouldn't suggest swimming. Now this is certainly a day trip, especially because the island is small and the accommodations are at least €50 per person and that is definitely above any price range I am willing to pay. This is not that big of a problem because it can be done in a single day. There might also be the option, if we wanted to take our time, to lodge somewhere off the island, at a nearby town perhaps for a much smaller fee. However, this will still be quite high because there will not be the affordable accomodations offered by a hostel.

Price: Probably about €34,50 (the €26 round trip from Rennes bus ride may have increased in price since 2006).
